Admiral Washington Beatty (PROSE: Admiral Beatty Arrest Sensation, Beatty Trial Sensation) was the commander of the World Navy, the fourth section of the World Security Council.

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

Service in the World Navy[[edit] | [edit source]]

In 2047, when both the World Navy and SOFRAM were racing to take control of a submarine with a stolen planatomic missile aboard, Agent Twenty One informed Beatty over the radio from a aeroplane that he could see SOFRAM moving in. Beatty also gave Twenty One permission to land on the nearby aircraft carrier to help out fellow agent Jack Reed. (COMIC: An Eye For An Eye)

By 2065, although the World Aquanaut Security Patrol was slowly taking over the role of the World Navy, the giant naval bases of Gibraltar and Sydney were still under Beatty's control. (PROSE: This is 2065)

Arrest and trial[[edit] | [edit source]]

In early 2066, he was arrested for passing secret information to Bereznik. His trial was scheduled to take place on 26 February at the Unity City Espionage Court. (COMIC: The Archives of Phryne) Before Judge Thor Bowdine entered and the trial officially commenced, Beatty was seen in the dock sitting and talking with his defence counsel Friedland Barnhof. After proceedings began, Barnhof immediately requested counsel in the judge's chambers for obscure legal arguments. Prosecutor Rur Bendin no objections and so the court was adjourned for thirty minutes. Once the recess was over, Bowdine revealed that Barnhof asked for a two week delay in order to collect fresh evidence. With Bendin choosing again not to object, Bowdine granted the request and dismissed the court until 8 March. (PROSE: Beatty Trial Sensation)

On the new set day of the trial, it was reported that the jury had been out for more than six hours with legal experts not expecting a decision until tomorrow. (COMIC: The Rogue Planet) The jury eventually returned a guilty verdict but asked the judge to take into consideration Beatty's "outstanding service" with the World Navy. Bowdine then sentenced him to seven years on the prison planet of Alcatra, though Beatty announced his intention to appeal the decision. (PROSE: Thieves Steal Million Dollars)

Ultimately, Cooper Bristol, a long time assistant to Beatty, was chosen to replace him as World Navy Chief. (COMIC: The Rogue Planet)
