Notes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- This story was announced on 6 December 2017.[2]
- This story was recorded on 20 October 2017 at the Moat Studios.[3]
- Big Finish's Backstage description states that I Am The Master takes place after TV: The Keeper of Traken.[3]
- In the style of The Companion Chronicles, this story is told from the Decayed Master's perspective.
- Ian Atkins had a goal of a reader performing their own script.[1][2] Geoffrey Beevers came to his attention by his novels; his episode on Toby Hadoke's Who's Round; his Big Finish Drama Showcase, Unintelligent Design; his being observant of how his Master was written in the past; "And, of course, you then get a Short Trip being read by that voice."[2] He asked Beevers "whether he wanted to work within the worlds of Doctor Who" while recording And You Will Obey Me.[1]
- The Big Finish ident announced by Nicholas Briggs ("You're listening to a Big Finish production") becomes distorted as the Master takes control of the transmission to contact the listener.
- While bragging about being the most intelligent creature the universe has ever produced, the Master tells the listener to not dare think of any other, remarking that, "his reputation is altogether overrated... as hers will be, in a future time you haven't yet seen", referring to the Thirteenth Doctor, whose first full-length story had aired twenty days prior to this story's release.
- This story was initially available as a download only. It was re-released as part of the Limited Edition version of Masterful.
Continuity[[edit] | [edit source]]
- The Master recalls stealing multiple bodies. (TV: The Keeper of Traken, Doctor Who; PROSE: Forgotten; AUDIO: Mastermind)
- The Master muses about the possibility of a galaxy reserved for multiplying clones of himself, before having a feeling that he will already try that at some point. (TV: The End of Time)
