Publisher's summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

When attacked on an alien world, Leela falls unconscious... only to wake in another time, another place.

She is in the Crowmarsh Institute on Earth, in London, in 1978, and everyone is calling her Doctor Marshall. They tell her the world she has known is but a fantasy, a delusion, and that this place is the one that is real.

Surrounded by familiar faces on unfamiliar people, Leela knows what is true and what is false. But how long can she believe when everyone around her says it’s a dream? What’s really happening here?

Notes[[edit] | [edit source]]

Alternate cover
  • The week this story is set was also the week of Leela's departure from the show and the week David Llewellyn was born.
  • Llewellyn was given a very open brief, with the main stipulation simply being that the story feature the Fourth Doctor and Leela. (BFX: The Crowmarsh Experiment)
  • Colin Marshall, Linus Strang and Dr Holman are all versions of characters that previously appeared in The Fourth Doctor Adventures. Llewellyn decided their inclusion would help provide more emotional weight to the story, and also tie it closer to the existing narrative continuity. (BFX: The Crowmarsh Experiment)
  • The story follows similar themes about alternate dream realities to Amy's Choice in Series 5 of the TV series.
