Opening[[edit source]]

We need to get this ironed out sooner rather than later; when creating pages about series' that have crossed over, should the dab be "franchise" or "series"?

I believe there are instances where "franchise" is more fitting than "series" and vice versa. We could just do with either figuring out when which one applies, or whether we should just stick with one or the other for consistency. WaltK 19:06, 31 August 2023 (UTC)

Discussion[[edit source]]

I personally would say that we should use both series and franchise as dab terms, and formalise a distinction. I would personally say that we should use franchise when it has been produced throughout multiple media platforms, and it's relevance to Doctor Who is through the media platform that is not it's main platform (platform might be the wrong word here, I mean it as in a TV series vs a film Vs a novel), and use series the rest of the time. So Call the Midwife (series), but Transformers (franchise), to pick the most obvious example. Aquanafrahudy 📢 20:18, 31 August 2023 (UTC)
Huh, I'd assumed this was being covered in the other forum since it was noted there, but I suppose it could be done separately. I'm unsure of which to use personally. Cookieboy 2005 22:49, 31 August 2023 (UTC)
