Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

In the old west, the Eleventh Doctor is taking no chances with his new cowboy hat, which he has fastened to his head with chains and rope. Amy Pond tells the Doctor to relax, assuring him that River Song is not even here. The paranoid Doctor is not convinced, telling Amy that River put a grenade in his stovepipe in 1966.

Characters[[edit] | [edit source]]

Worldbuilding[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • Rory is dressed as a cactus.
  • Rory's belt has a trumpet hanging from it.
  • The Doctor and Rory have badges bearing the words "Snerf" and "Derpty", respectively.

Notes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • The Doctor's paranoia over the safety of his hat is a clear nod to River having previously shot his fez (The Big Bang) and his stetson (The Impossible Astronaut).
  • The Doctor's claim that River "put a grenade in [his] stovepipe in 1966" could potentially be a nod to the stovepipe hat that served as an incredibly short-lived part of the Second Doctor's outfit, and may be intended to serve as an "in-universe" explanation for why he so quickly discarded it.
