A giant wasp was, in Donna Noble's words, "a wasp that's giant, (…) flippin' enormous".
Vespiforms were an example of giant wasps. (TV: The Unicorn and the Wasp) A seemingly-unrelated species known simply as Giant Wasps were long-time minions created by Rebel Quarks. (COMIC: The Killer Wasps, PROSE: Synthespians™) Jack Harkness claimed the Rebel Quarks were rumoured to have once engaged in a war with the Vespiforms, although he did not personally believe this. (WC: Monster File: Vespiform)
Behind the scenes[[edit]]
- Despite the mention of a conflict between Quark rebels and Vespiforms in Monster File: Vespiform, in fact the "Giant Wasps" who appeared in COMIC: The Killer Wasps bore no resemblance to the Vespiform from TV: The Unicorn and the Wasp other than the fact of being large wasps, and indeed were created by the Quarks from a species resembling Earth wasps.
