Sir John Thurloe was an Englishman. He worked as a spy for Oliver Cromwell. He wanted to replace King Charles I with the Council of State. In 1649, he and Cromwell decided to remove any record of the involvement of the Second Doctor and his companions in the near-escape of Charles. (PROSE: The Roundheads)
