Resurrecting the Past (audio story)
Resurrecting the Past was the forty-ninth Bernice Summerfield audio story released by Big Finish Productions. It was the first story of the eleventh season.
Publisher's summary[[edit] | [edit source]]
When a group of Irving Braxiatel's defensive mechanoids embarks on a kidnapping spree, Braxiatel denies all knowledge – but his former associates Bev Tarrant and Adrian Wall suspect something else is going on. They've been waiting for Braxiatel to show his hand for months and this looks like it.
The only problem is, Bernice Summerfield isn't around to help. She's vanished. Her son, Peter, and Adrian search for her on a craggy forgotten planet.
Meanwhile Robyn, an android from the future, is on a mission to find out why Braxiatel wants her creators wiped from the timelines for good. She and Bev team up to investigate the kidnappings. What is Braxiatel doing with all these people? And why has Bernice been so important to his plans for all these years?
Plot[[edit] | [edit source]]
Peter and Adrian search for Benny on Javarda and receive a message from Bev and Robyn, informing them that they are attempting to prevent the kidnap of Allen Ward, a transactions clerk on Gleory, by a Braxiatel Protective Mechanoid. The two women manage to get him to safety by claiming amnesty in another territory and using the border robots to destroy the BPM, making Ward the first person they have managed to save in a series of kidnappings by BPMs across known space. Braxiatel makes a public accouncement that the BPMs in question were stolen from the Braxiatel Collection and offers a reward for information on those who are utilising them. He then purchases Maximediras cheaply, claiming that it is as a venue for public art displays, and takes Joseph and Hass with him to prepare it.
Once Peter and Adrian find the BPM in which Benny has been held in stasis for five days, Benny is revived and they tell her about the kidnappings. Thanks to Robyn experiencing time in reverse, she was able to identify Ward as the next victim, but time being in flux has made things unclear for her recently. Robyn is teleported away whilst inspecting the BPM that was after Ward and Bev sends out a message to Benny, Peter and Adrian asking them to join her in following Robyn's trace to the Moon.
