Sigmund Freud
Sigmund Freud was a psychiatrist in the 20th century.
Freud was born and lived in Austria for the entirety of his youth. He visited London in 1894 where he met Henry Gordon Jago and George Litefoot. Freud had argued that there were great untapped parts of the human brain which could be explored at times of illness or stress. He had tried to explain existence in terms of mere cause and effect. When Grace Holloway jokingly told the Bruce Master that the Eighth Doctor liked being called "Doctor", she recalled that Freud had a name for that. The Master answered with "transference". The Doctor sarcastically called Grace "witty" for that remark and claimed that "at least Freud would have taken me seriously." The Eighth Doctor visited Freud sometime during the 20th century while he was suffering from amnesia in an attempt to jog his own memory. In 1699, the Eleventh Doctor mentioned that Freud would say that Captain Henry Avery waving his gun around was a form of compensation, and that Freud had a comfy couch. Far after Freud's lifetime, the Freudian Institute was staffed entirely by robot Sigmund Freuds, each sharing all information gained in their psychoanalytic sessions with all other robot duplicates. - In the Sixth Doctor and Peri audio story Conflict Theory [+]Loading...["Conflict Theory (audio story)"], Sigmund Freud's robotic counterparts are voiced by David Sibley.
- Timewyrm: Exodus [+]Loading...["Timewyrm: Exodus (novel)"] references real-world Nazi plans, discovered after World War II, to arrest many significant figures in Britain during Operation Sealion. Known as The Black Book in real life, Freud was on that list, although he had died in September 1939, three weeks after the war started.
