On 20 December, bottle factory owner Nathaniel Seers underwent a sudden change of personality. He sacked an employee who had suffered an injury at the factory instead of showing his usual compassion and philanthropy. Strax killed Mrs Gillyflower to save the lives of the Doctor and his friends, and Mrs Gillyflower's daughter, Ada, crushed Mr Sweet.
