The Allies were one of the two major alliances fighting on Earth during World War I (1914-1918). Their forces fought the Ottoman Empire in the Gallipoli campaign. (AUDIO: What Have I Done?)

Threatened by Austria, Serbia was allied with France and Russia. As Austria's German allies threatened Belgium, the United Kingdom stepped in to oppose them, (PROSE: Human Nature) bringing with them the British colonies of Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa and India. As part of the British Empire, soldiers from Australia and New Zealand made up the Australian and New Zealand Army Corp (ANZAC) which fought alongside the British Army. (PROSE: Direct Action)

Japan had an agreement with Britain which brought it into the war against Germany. Italy, though bound by treaty to Germany, held back from the war for a year, before siding with the Anglo-French alliance against Germany in 1915. In April 1917, the United States of America joined the fight against Germany, hastening the end of the conflict the following year. (PROSE: The Time Traveller's Almanac)
