Antarctic Treaty

The Antarctic Treaty was a treaty made to help preserve Antarctica. It forbade any mineral mining, military activity, and dumping nuclear waste in Antarctica. In 2048, it came up for renewal. Ophion Oil planned to "swing it" so the treaty would not be renewed, meaning that they would be able to drill for oil. Doctor Patricia Audley experimented on students in Project Sub-Zero in an attempt to make them capable of surviving in Antarctica, defending it after a potential lapse of the treaty. The Twelfth Doctor was unsure whether the treaty was renewed or not. (COMIC: Blood and Ice)
