At some point in the early 1990s, he was locked in invisible space handcuffs with Dec. The duo encountered the Doctor, who they believed could free them from the handcuffs. (TV: Dermot and the Doctor [+]Loading...["Dermot and the Doctor (TV story)"])

Following the Vore invasion of Earth in 2005, Ant was reported missing and presumed dead. (PROSE: The Gallifrey Chronicles [+]Loading...["The Gallifrey Chronicles (novel)"]) However, Ant was later revealed to be alive in 2011.

By 2011, Ant was still locked in the invisible handcuffs and hoped the Eleventh Doctor would be able to free him. When the TARDIS materialised in their home, Ant asked Dermot O'Leary if the Doctor was there, explaining that he had been locked in the handcuffs for 21 years by this point, and only the Doctor could release him. Dermot, however, stated he was busy and left. Ant said he needed to go to the toilet, much to Dec's annoyance, as the handcuffs meant he would have to come with him.
