Invisible space handcuffs

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Invisible space handcuffs were a form of handcuffs that were invisible.

History[[edit] | [edit source]]

At some point in the early 1990s, Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly were locked in invisible space handcuffs together. The duo believed that only the Doctor was capable of releasing them.

When the TARDIS materialised in their home in 2011, Ant and Dec asked Dermot O'Leary if the Doctor could free them, telling him that they had been locked together for 21 years. Dermot, however, stated he was busy and left. (TV: Dermot and the Doctor [+]Loading...["Dermot and the Doctor (TV story)"])

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

Ant and Dec being locked in "invisible space handcuffs" is a reference to the pair remaining together as a duo for most of their television careers, with no solo projects. In 2018, the duo temporarily split up when Ant McPartlin suspended presenting duties following an arrest for drink driving. This resulted in some television programmes being postponed and Dec presenting alone.[1]
