Astolith
Astolith was a slave aboard the spaceship of the Krattorian Kest.
Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]
Prior to becoming a slave, Astolith had been a space captain.
In February 2065, when Kest's ship landed on Skaro his slaves were sent out onto its surface to collect sand. However, Kest's ship's instruments soon ran into difficulties due to the magnetic properties of the sand, which was actually a defensive measure of the hidden Dalek City. Sala came to Astolith and suggested this distraction could be their chance to escape, to which Astolith agreed. He outlined his plan to let the other slaves rest and then storm the ship by making use of the fact they outnumbered the Krattorians twenty to one. Astolith proceeded to warn the strongest of their gang to be ready but his and Sala's conspiring had been overheard by Andor, who betrayed them by reporting the budding rebellion to Kest himself. Astolith was brought in front of Kest for questioning when Andor identified him as one of the rebels. He proved uncooperative, denying knowledge of Sala's location (who had gone outside for a stroll) and denouncing Andor as a traitor, punching him in the face. Kest then threatened to starve the slaves for a week if he did not reveal where Sala was but at that moment she returned, claiming "a power almost ready to destroy" them all was outside.
Kest was sufficiently intrigued and accompanied Astolith and Sala with a couple of guards into the mountains, where Sala believed her "new friends" the Daleks to be waiting. The Daleks had no intention of helping her, however, and instead massacred the remaining Krattorian guards and stole Kest's ship. When Kest happened to discover this by looking back, he accused Sala of tricking him and threatened Astolith with her life if he did not tell him what was going on. Astolith responded by forcing one of the guards from the cliff where they stood to his death and Sala followed suit by pushing Kest and sending him tumbling down the mountain, albeit without fatal injuries.
They then turned their attention to the Daleks, gaining easy access to the Dalek City without being spotted thanks to Sala's prior visit. From afar they watched as the captured Kest offered the Daleks the secrets of space flight in exchange for the opportunity to see his two most troublesome slaves destroyed in front of him. They successfully evaded the Daleks for two hours before circling around and re-entering Kest's ship via an open escape hatch. Astolith proceeded to release the other slaves, whom the Daleks had kept imprisoned, while Sala prepared the ship's stations for immediate takeoff under his direction. Astolith and the others then flew on to freedom, his previous experience as a space captain proving vital, with the destruction caused by the blast off killing Kest, Andor and a few Daleks.
