Bevell was the owner of a charity shop in West Morebry. She was very proud about her shop and didn't want anything to besmearch her reputation. This caused problems when the Ninth Doctor investigated the Vermine. She knew about the Vermine and wanted to hide it, such as trying to hide Marla disappearance including removing any evidence.
