Brenda was a waitress at the Lavendish Tea Rooms in London in the 1950s. She refused to take Gideon Lyme's order, telling him to sit down and wait for her, and then proceeded to ignore him when he asked her for a menu, only going to his table when Norton Folgate arrived and asked for two teas and scrambled eggs.
