Carnon Manor was a house owned by Lord Nicholas Carnon.
Carnon Manor was a "half-way house to the other side". Carnon was allowed by Death to borrow six souls for his entertainment and to keep them in the house. If he tired of one of the souls, a creature in the basement would take it away.
By the time the Fifth Doctor and Nyssa arrived at Carnon Manor, it was in sad condition. (PROSE: The Eternity Contract)
