Category talk:Individuals with recorded deaths
Explanation[[edit source]]
I always thought it would be useful to have a category that listed all the "dead" characters, but I knew that doing it in the conventional sense wouldn't be practical here since no character in a show about time travel is really "dead". So I thought, how about a category covering those whose biographies do cover their eventual deaths, from deaths that occur within the narrative (i.e. Adric), to those who are destined to die under particular circumstances (Jo Grant allegedly being destined to die in a house fire according to one source). Please tell me what you think. TheFatPanda ☎ 19:54, January 13, 2019 (UTC)
- T:OVER-CAT warns against creating categories which are "too broad — People who at one time lived on Earth; Actors from the United Kingdom; Stories that include the TARDIS, and the like. Since all of these are extremely common virtues in the broader DWU, the category would add relatively little of value to the page. Moreover, the category would be very hard to ever complete."
- What is the argument for keeping this category, when (I believe) a majority of all DWU individuals have recorded deaths?

- I don't think there is an argument for keeping this category. Given the Ninth Doctor's extreme excitement that "everybody lives" in The Doctor Dances, it's safe to say that the very large majority of DWU stories include at least one individual's death. This category is too broad to be practical and should be deleted. Shambala108 ☎ 02:40, March 11, 2019 (UTC)
This category has been deleted. It's just way too broad to be useful on this wiki. For it to work, it would have to include all media, and that's just too much. For instance, I have no interest in or intention of going back over the 400+ Short Trips stories to find the thousands of recorded deaths in those stories. I'm sure there are very few people who would want to undertake such a task. Shambala108 ☎ 14:40, May 9, 2019 (UTC)
