Colonel Chan was a high-ranking officer in the British division of UNIT by 2023.

In November 2023, (PROSE: The Star Beast [+]Loading...["The Star Beast (novelisation)"]) Chan led a UNIT squad to Millson Wagner Steelworks to investigate a crashed spaceship, though Shirley Anne Bingham quickly deduced that, while the ship had indeed crashed to Earth, the landing at the steelworks had been deliberate. Chan then went to investigate a pulsing from the ship, but found a Psychedelic Sun inside and fell to Solar Psychedelia, with him and his possessed squad becoming the Meep's Soldiers of the Psychedelic Sun, forced to the do the Meep's bidding until Rose Noble, using knowledge bestowed upon her by the Human-Time Lord Meta-Crisis, was able to free them. Chan than stood by as the Meep was arrested by the Wrarth Warriors, (TV: The Star Beast) and then left with Shervan Singh and Shirley after having said goodbye to the Fourteenth Doctor.
