Charlie McDonnell - TARDIS[1] was one of several short episodes of Doctor Who Confidential broadcast via BBC Red Button in the run-up to A Christmas Carol. Like all in this special series of Confidential, it featured young internet film-maker Charlie McDonnell, giving her thoughts on her ramble round Upper Boat Studios. It was thus a kind of video diary, but one nevertheless produced by, and released under the banner of, Doctor Who Confidential.

Aspects of production covered[[edit] | [edit source]]

As the title suggests, the major focus of the episode was to have Charlie examine the interior and exterior of the TARDIS. She notes with mock disappointment how the exterior TARDIS prop is not, in fact, bigger on the inside. She goes on to de-mythologise the TARDIS console prop, pointing out that the buttons and levers don't actually do anything. Then, after watching one particular TARDIS scene being filmed, she comments upon the boredom that can result from seeing the same scene filmed over and over again.

People interviewed[[edit] | [edit source]]

Though Charlie was never seen actually talking to anyone in this episode, she managed to get Christmas Carol director Toby Haynes to perform a couple of cheesy self-introductions.

Home video releases[[edit] | [edit source]]

As of August 2020, no version of the episode is available commercially.
