Dalek Chronicles

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

The Dalek Chronicles were a collection of story-cubes about Dalek history, from the metal tyrants' birth on Skaro to their conflicts with the Mechonoids and the planet Phryne. (PROSE: The Dalek Chronicles Found!) The story-cubes were sturdy glass cubes containing thin metallic rods that were actually microfilms. (PROSE: The Daleks)

History[[edit] | [edit source]]

The alien artefacts made their way to Earth in the sixties, (PROSE: The Dalek Chronicles Found!) having fallen back in time from "the future". (PROSE: The Daleks) Terry Nation found one in his garden, and, after drilling into it to extract the microfilms, discovered their true nature as alien records which had fallen through time. He quickly recruited the help of David Whitaker to look for more story-cubes and translate them. (PROSE: The Dalek Chronicles Found!) Nation would be recognised for his work on accounts of Dalek history in the BBC documentary series Doctor Who, which began in 1963.

Published around the turn of the 21st century, the Dalek Survival Guide acknowledged the Dalek Chronicles among its sources, identifying Terry Nation as the "Dalek chronicler". (PROSE: Dalek Survival Guide) By 2094, the story-cubes were thought mostly lost or scattered across private collections, until they were recovered in their entirety, "translated and visualised" by a team of experts including Whitaker, and released for public consumption.

The content of the story-cubes found by Nation and Whitaker corresponded (PROSE: The Dalek Chronicles Found!) to records from the Space News Agency, "originally" printed in TV 21 in the 2060s. (PROSE: Fireball Surrenders!, et al.) Similar narratives were discovered by the Doctor in the form of the "Dalek Tapes" on another planet than Earth. (COMIC: The Dalek Tapes)
