Story-cubes were a medium for transmission of history, alien to the planet Earth. They took the form of sturdy glass cubes containing metallic rods that were actually the sheaths of highly compressed microfilms. (PROSE: The Daleks)
The Dalek Chronicles were a collection of story-cubes about Dalek history, which made their way to Earth in the 1960s, having somehow fallen back in time from the "future". Terry Nation made the first story-cube discovery, in Kensington Gardens.
By 2094, they had been "translated and visualised" in full by a team of experts, allowing the public to learn of its contents. (PROSE: The Dalek Chronicles Found!, The Daleks)
