Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

As revealed by Edward Thomas, the Series One production team were aware of the Bad Wolf meme but did not know its meaning, and so decided to "play [their] own games" by inserting "Dalek graffiti" into sets. Thomas stated, "It's our little play on the Daleks communicating, right the way through time, basically!" The interview revealed its appearances in Rose and World War Three, with Thomas claiming that it could be found in most episodes.[1]

Dalek graffiti appeared as actual graffiti on the cover of the 15-21 April 2006 Radio Times. Speaking on the creative process behind the cover, Thomas retconned his previous statement on Dalek graffiti to fit with the show's televised plot by saying that the Daleks "were sending subliminal messages to each other throughout the universe."[2]

In a 2006 internet interview, Thomas mentioned Dalek graffiti appearing as vandalism on a wall,[3] an appearance which has not yet been identified unless Thomas was referring to the Radio Times photoshoot.
