David Lane (born 4 February 1940[1]) was the director for eight episodes of the supermarionation television series Thunderbirds, as well as for the two films Thunderbirds Are Go and Thunderbird 6. This included the series 1 episode The Man from MI.5, which crossed over into the Doctor Who universe by featuring an appearance by the Daleks. He also worked as an editor for the first episode Trapped in the Sky.

Lane was also involved in several other creations of Gerry Anderson which shared crossovers with the DWU. He was an editor for Stingray, directed one episode of Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons and was the producer of Joe 90, also writing one episode of the latter. On later Anderson productions, he was the producer for three episodes of The Secret Service, the director of eight episodes and writer of one episode for UFO, the editor or supervising editor for all of The Protectors, the supervising editor and technical director for the second series of Space: 1999, and the director for ten episodes of New Captain Scarlet.

Notable film credits include work as the visual coordinator and second unit director for Superman, the second unit and flying director for Superman III and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, and solely the second unit director for Supergirl and Muppet Treasure Island.
