William Jenkins-Wells, also known by his nickname Digger Wells, was a cricket commentator during the 1981 Ashes series, where he worked alongside Brian. During their commentary, the Fifth Doctor's TARDIS materialised in the press box. The two men were unfazed, with Digger replying, "I thought he was here already," to Brian's casual, "The Doctor's here." They allowed the Doctor to remain in the commentary box with them for the remainder of the match.

Digger was in fact right about the Doctor being there already. A younger version of the Fifth Doctor had arrived earlier, and he was closer to the action on the cricket ground itself. The older Fifth Doctor wanted to remain safely in Digger's press box to avoid meeting his younger self. (PROSE: Graham Dilley Saves the World)
