The Dr Who Travels in Space Sticker Fun Book was a 1966 narrative sticker book featuring the First Doctor. It told a story with minimal prose content and large black-and-white illustrations, onto which readers had the option to either add colourful stickers or colour in by themselves.

This was one of two instalments in the Dr Who Travels in Space series of activity books from World Distributors, the other being the similarly-narrative Dr Who Travels in Space Painting Book.

Plot[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Tardis lands on a strange planet in an area of jungle and swamp. Dr Who explores the planet and finds it to be inhabited by harmless giant animals, though he has some trouble getting through the huge and seemingly overgrown plants. Eventually, peculiar little men appear from behind the plants and rocks, having observed Dr Who for some time to determine whether he was a friend or foe. They explain to him that they are called the Floramites and are very happy except for when the mechanical men from the other side of the planet disturb them. The mechanical men show up but Dr Who paralyses them with his ray gun and gives them a stern talking to. Afterwards, the mechanical men apologise to the Floramites for their mischief and make friends with them. Everyone then has a party together, including the giant animals, to celebrate Dr Who bringing peace to their planet at last.

Story notes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • This story unusually depicts the Doctor as being in possession of a ray gun capable of inducing paralysis at least. Fellow 1960s story Master of Spiders [+]Loading...["Master of Spiders (comic story)"] similarly showed the Second Doctor with a ray gun but, unlike that story which explained he had recently invented the weapon and was hoping to test it, no reason is offered here as to why the Doctor is carrying such a device on his person.
