Elizabeth Blattner (14 October 1914[1]13 April 1986[2]) provided the make-up for several Doctor Who television stories.

Career[[edit] | [edit source]]

Blattner's other work included BBC adaptations of Dickens' The Old Curiosity Shop and Martin Chuzzlewit. On the former, she was responsible for transforming Patrick Troughton into the grotesque Daniel Quilp. It was a role the actor recalled as his favourite.[3]

Personal life[[edit] | [edit source]]

Blattner's father was the German sound-recording pioneer Ludwig Blattner.[4] He committed suicide in 1935 in despair over his invention.[5]

Her brother Gerry was a producer.
