Equator
According to a book owned by Chloe Webber, the Equator was an imaginary line which ran around the planet Earth exactly between the two poles, North and South. The Equator divided the planet into two halves or hemispheres, the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
The Equator appeared on globes together with other lines that ran around the globe parallel to the Equator, known as parallels or lines of latitude. Latitude was measured in degrees between the Equator (0 degrees latitude) and the poles (90 degrees latitude). The latitude of any place between them was the angle formed at the centre of the Earth between the place and the Equator.
