Franz (The Bitter Cold Dish)

Franz and Jan were German farmworkers.

In the late 2040s, they found former Agent Twenty One of the Universal Secret Service when he collapsed from exhaustion after swimming to the mainland from a submarine. Knowing of a bogus news story put out by the USS in order to capture him, they restrained him in their farmhouse to collect a ten thousand dollar reward. Franz called the police to their location and was told a helijet would be with them in ten minutes. After Twenty One regained consciousness, he feigned ignorance to Franz' insistence he was a murderer on the run, saying that he was a toy salesman on a publicity stunt to swim the Baltic. Despite producing a toy from his pocket, Franz remained set on handing him over to the police just to be sure, the end result of which was Twenty One making the toy emit a high-pitched hypnotic note, causing Franz and Jan to collapse and allowing him to escape anyway.
