Genesis of the Daleks was a rare record from "circa 1979". It was considered a rare find. The Fourth Doctor once stumbled upon a copy in the "alien menaces section" of the Inter-Gallactic Record Shop on Gamma-Ursa 9, but was unable to purchase it due to being threatened by two actual Daleks; he decided to try and track down a copy on Terra instead. On the Icy Edge of the Galaxy... served as an advertisement for a real-world Genesis of the Daleks LP record, which combined dialogue from the TV story with original narration.
