Jodie Whittaker used the codename "The Clooney" when discussing her role as the Thirteenth Doctor with her agent to preserve secrecy prior to the announcement. The name was chosen because Whittaker and her husband believed George Clooney to be an "iconic guy".[1] Whittaker further added that it was also in reference to Clooney's character on the American drama series ER.[2]
