The Guernica was a Spanish submarine sent to the Mariana Trench in 1959. It was crewed by Sam Doyle and Henry Goddard. The Guernica crashed due to the actions of an alien parasite. Henry died and Sam was infected. The government covered up the accident and claimed the submarine was lost at sea.
When the Torchwood Three team came to investigate the Mariana Trench, the Guernica was still there. They used it to escape when the Octopus Rock was scuttled. (AUDIO: Submission)
