A head truma was a type of injury to the head. The Ninth Doctor was able to scan for this using his sonic screwdriver. Jamie, and thus all the victims of the Empty Child epidemic, suffered from severe head trauma on the left side after being hit by a Chula ambulance in 1941 London. After the Doctor reversed the effects of the plague, all the victims no longer had head trauma. (TV: The Empty Child)
