"Ishmael"

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

"Inquisitor Ishmael", originally known as Dra'Heem, was a native of the planet Urok'Sharn. He originally lived a short and obscure life as a palace guard to King Ba'al'Crom, but, after the planet's timeline was altered as part of the War in Heaven, his life was rewritten so that he'd now been sold off as an infant to the Order of Tarth'Rioshim, who raised him to become a ruthless enforcer of their xenophobic crusade against intruders from parallel universes.

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

Original timeline[[edit] | [edit source]]

The infant Dra'Heem was born to a woman who greatly resembled him, on the planet Urok'Sharn. Being raised by "poor but loving parents" in the largest city on the planet, Sarath'Jash, he became a royal guard in the palace of King Ba'al'Crom to have the money to support his ageing parents. However, he fell in love with the King's daughter, Anuk'Sha'alra. Their affair was discovered and Dra'Heem was publicly executed for his "crime". (AUDIO: Call Me Ishmael)

Rewritten timeline[[edit] | [edit source]]

After Urok'Sharn was destroyed in the War, it was brought back with its timeline altered. In the new version of history, Dra'Heem was given away as an infant by his mother to the Order of Tarth'Rioshim and trained nearly from birth by the Order, under the name of "Ishmael". He was brutally taught to use its weaponry and uphold its near-religious view of the sanctity of the universe from interference by parallel worlds. He lived an "interesting, but brutal" life, having on numerous occasions been ordered to execute innocent wanderers from other dimensions who presented no actual threat, but whose existence could not be tolerated by the Order.

However, Ishmael became plagued by dreams and nightmares of his previous life as Dra'Heem in the original timeline. He investigated numerous possibilities, including that he had a psychic link with the man "Dra'Heem", but came up empty. Still certain that his dreams represented a real temporal phenomenon rather than being pure imagination, he eventually headed to Dionus's clinic for temporal conditions, on the planet Gulliver's Rest, in his ship. Entering Ishmael's mind with his permission, Dionus found Ishmael's buried memory of being given away to the Order as an infant, and, recognising the woman in the memory as Dra'Heem's mother, deduced the truth.

Shocked by the revelations, and with Dionus having also awakened his buried resentment against the leaders of the Order, Ishmael decided to rebel againt the Order of Tarth'Rioshim and become a protector, rather than enemy, to individuals from parallel or alternative timelines. Appearance[[edit] | [edit source]]

Ishmael was a tall man. Like other natives of Urok'Sharn, he had very pale skin and silver hair. As Inquisitor Ishmale, he wore a "well-tailored, crimson suit and an overcoat to match". Dionus thought of him as conventionally handsome, though he did not himself find Ishmael particularly attractive. He had a heavy gaze, weighed down by his many regrets and resentments.
