The Jackals of the Backwards Clock were the servants of the Trickster.
They pretended to be waiters during the memorial service for Sarah Jane Smith and had planned to swap the Earth for a copy from the septic dimension. They were thwarted by the attendees of the funeral who had been primarily comprised of old friends and companions of the Doctor. (WC: Farewell, Sarah Jane)
