Jay was a 19th century English platelayer who worked on the railway at Bletchington Station. Unlike his colleagues, he did not have any family back home.
He was terrified of the beast and, unlike Jim and Henry, spoke about his fears openly. He led the platelayers into the woods when they heard the beast and managed to escape from it with Dodo Chaplet, returning to the inn at the First Doctor's command. (AUDIO: The Horror at Bletchington Station)
