Kim "Someone-or-other" was the ruler of North Korea in the 1950s.

At some point in the 1950s, Kim encountered the Eleventh Doctor and River Song, and played a game of draughts against the former. Kim lost this game, and as the Doctor later recalled, this meant that the two Koreas would reunite amicably and acquire real-estate on the Moon in ninety years' time. Although his full name is not stated, the character is implied to be the real world ruler of North Korea at the time, Kim Il Sung.
