In 1965, "Lord" Nelson was shot on stage (PROSE: Peaceful Thals Ambushed! [+]Loading...["Peaceful Thals Ambushed! (short story)"], COMIC: Who Killed Lord Nelson? [+]Loading...["Who Killed Lord Nelson? (comic story)"]) by theatre manager Horatio Feretti (COMIC: Who Killed Lord Nelson? (part 2) [+]Loading...{"part":"2","1":"Who Killed Lord Nelson? (comic story)"}) while performing in the play This Gun for Death (PROSE: Peaceful Thals Ambushed! [+]Loading...["Peaceful Thals Ambushed! (short story)"]) in a theatre, alongside fellow actor Harry Lownes, whose character had just shot at him.
Captain Amos Burke, present at the performance with Peggy, was called backstage following this, questioning the cast and crew. Lownes claimed not to have aimed the gun at Nelson, and Miss Lee claimed that he "couldn't act for nuts", and was so objectionable that she could've shot him herself. Upon being questions, Ferretti suggested that Nelson was a blackmailer, providing a potential motive. Before leaving him, Burke noted the blue paint on Ferretti's shoes.
Tim Tilson informed Burke that he'd found a bullet on the side of the stage where Lownes claimed to have aimed, as well as a burnt hole in the curtain, leading them to search there for the murder weapon. (comic story)"}) While searching there, Tilson noted the blue paint on Burke's shoes, leading Burke to tell Tilson to examine the carpet of box six, where he found a trail of blue paint. Checking the scenery room, a piece of scenery crashed beside them, leading them to give chase to Ferretti, who was ultimately knocked down by another piece of scenery.
Finding letters in Ferretti's pocket, Les Hart observed the motive to have been blackmail. Burke then claimed that although Nelson had been a lousy actor, one couldn't turn a blind eye to murder, describing this as "Burke's law". (COMIC: Who Killed Lord Nelson? TV Century 21 reported on Nelson's murder in 2065, stating that Captain Amos Burke would investigate it. (PROSE: Peaceful Thals Ambushed! [+]Loading...["Peaceful Thals Ambushed!
