Marlborough

Lord Marlborough was the lord of North Lees Hall in Derbyshire.

In 1845, he hosted Charlotte Brontë and Ellen as guests. Ellen said he rarely entertained guests and not fond of surprises, which made the Twelfth Doctor distrust him. To their surprise, Marlborough invited the Doctor and Clara Oswald to stay with him at North Lees, and informed them the following day that he was preparing to host a party.

As the Doctor later discovered, Marlborough was being psychically controlled by an Aranox, and was made to bring in as many humans as he could so that the Aranox could drain their psychic energy. When the Doctor managed to free Marlborough from the Aranox's psychic control Marlborough killed the creature with a lantern. In the process he started a fire which engulfed most of the building. After escaping the building, the party guests put Marlborough into a carriage to take him to the nearest doctor. (COMIC: Unearthly Things ^[+]Loading...["Unearthly Things (comic story)"])
