Matthew Basellas was a Roman Zealot living in the 1st century AD. Unlike his brother Simeon, he advocated violence to free themselves from the Roman Empire. When his followers deserted him, he believed he was the Messiah. He was killed by Marcus Lanilla. (PROSE: Byzantium!)
