Pier Head From Space was a Doctor Who Adventures comic strip published in 2011.

Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Doctor takes Amy Pond and Rory Williams to the longest pier in the galaxy on the planet Arriman B. The pier stretches above the planet some ten thousand kilometres, with its own gravity, heat bubble and space swimming. A pier whose only purpose was fun! Just as the Doctor is about to get ice creams, the Pier is ripped apart. A giant, tentacled monster demands one million credits from the Pier supervisor. As the creature spells out its demands, the Doctor recognises the voice. He names the creature as Ellis the Illusionist!

At first the creature denies the Doctor's accusation, then gives in and turns off his illusionary disguise. It's not just Ellis's appearance that was an illusion. So to was the breakup of the pier! Ellis explains his illusionary act was cut by the pier supervisor for being dull. This had left Ellis without work and down on his luck. However, so impressed is the supervisor by Ellis's stunt that he is re-hired. Having been assured by the Doctor that "kids like a little scare every now and then", Ellis the Illusionist's act became a roaring success.
