President (ship)
The President was a cruise liner which weighed three hundred thousand tons.
In 2067, it became jammed across the Nicaraguan Canal. On 24 August, the International Rescue craft Thunderbird 4 was pinned at the bottom the Canal by the giant ship after its pilot Gordon Tracy dived beneath the surface of the water to inspect the hull of the vessel. While reason told newspaper men that the weight of the President must crush the small submarine, the cahelium plus metal of TB 4 was reportedly strong enough to support the entire World Aquanaut Security Patrol fleet. Top British metalurgists described the situation as a "David and Goliath battle". If International Rescue failed to refloat the cruise liner and "straighten out" the nearby rebels within twenty-four hours, the Nicaraguan army were ordered to move into action.
