- Tim Keable had previously illustrated short comics of Nicholas Briggs' audio stories for the Audio Visuals. The comics for Dalek Empire were inspired by The Dalek Book and the TV Century 21 The Daleks. (Dalek Empire: The Scripts)
- Keable would later publish the original colour artwork for this comic on his deviantart.
