The reinvention of the Dalek Empire was the moment in post-Last Great Time War Dalek history where it seemed the repeated failures of the New Dalek Paradigm hit a boiling point. A resurrected Dalek Empire emerged that lessened the Paradigm's influence considerably.

The reinvention[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Parliament of the Daleks. (TV: Asylum of the Daleks)

While the New Paradigm had restored the Daleks to the universe and recreated the "Dalek Empire", it failed to conquer the universe and relied heavily on past Dalek triumphs instead of new ideas. (PROSE: Dalek: The Astounding Untold History of the Greatest Enemies of the Universe) Indeed, while it originally made heavy use of its unique red drone casing, (GAME: City of the Daleks, et. al) the New Paradigm (PROSE: Dalek: The Astounding Untold History of the Greatest Enemies of the Universe) eventually began to heavily use Bronze Dalek drones instead. (COMIC: The Dalek Project, PROSE: The Dalek Generation) During the Sunlight Worlds strategy, the Dalek Time Controller rebuked a Paradigm Supreme in the presence of other high-ranking Daleks. Proving that such a unit could be made subordinate, the Supreme then obeyed the Time Controller's proposed plan instead of its own. (PROSE: The Dalek Generation)

In the end, the New Paradigm's many failures became an embarrassment. Likely as a reaction, the Daleks moved to "reinvent" their empire, lessening the influence of the New Paradigm in the process. A Parliament of the Daleks was established and placed under the command of a Prime Minister of the Daleks. (PROSE: Dalek: The Astounding Untold History of the Greatest Enemies of the Universe) Most Daleks within the Parliament were Bronze Daleks, (TV: Asylum of the Daleks) with the Prime Minister formally declaring the standard Dalek warrior would return to that design in order to promote fear and distance this resurrected Dalek Empire from the mistakes of the Paradigm. As such, the Prime Minister also declared red and grey Paradigm drones would be made into officers who stayed away from the front. Other New Paradigm members, including the original Supreme, were included in the Parliament, but they were given little real power. (PROSE: Dalek: The Astounding Untold History of the Greatest Enemies of the Universe)

Legacy[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Supreme was reduced to a token presence (PROSE: Dalek: The Astounding Untold History of the Greatest Enemies of the Universe) and left to be ordered about by the Prime Minister. (TV: Asylum of the Daleks, PROSE: Dalek Combat Training Manual) While still not as powerful as the Dalek Empire of the Time War era, (PROSE: Dalek Combat Training Manual) the resurrected Dalek Empire continued to grow and expand. (TV: Asylum of the Daleks, et. al)

During the Siege of Trenzalore, the Supreme regained its power by declaring the Prime Minister unfit for duty, only to bring the Parliament directly to Trenzalore and leave it in the line of fire for the Eleventh Doctor's regeneration energy. (PROSE: Dalek: The Astounding Untold History of the Greatest Enemies of the Universe) Eventually, the Paradigm Daleks seemed to vanish from the Empire altogether. (PROSE: The Monster Vault)

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

According to DWFC TLV 1, the formation of the "resurrected Dalek Empire" ended a civil war between the New Paradigm and the "Children of Davros". This would match with the story told at the interactive portion of the Doctor Who Experience exhibition.

An instalment of The Daft Dimension presented a New Paradigm Supreme Dalek as the Ghost of Christmas Future appearing before Ebeneezer Davros, humourously suggesting that, as far as Davros is concerned, the New Dalek Paradigm would be an undesirable future for the Dalek race.
