Cardinal Roche was a custodian of the Vatican's Collection of Necessary Secrets during the late 18th century.
He claimed to have seen the body of a part human/part fish in the Collection. His psychic powers made him sensitive to some items there. Roche eventually went insane and used one of the sharper exhibits to slit his own throat. (PROSE: Christmas on a Rational Planet)
