Salford cats were, according to the one encountered by Iris Wildthyme and Panda in Wonderland, "completely different" from Cheshire cats. Although the ones could be confused for the other due to sharing the ability to dematerialise part of their bodies, Salford cats were glum-looking whereas Cheshire cats usually grinned.
