Samuel Morton Peto

Samuel Morton Peto

Samuel Morton Peto was, as the Fifth Doctor put it, a legendary construction genius. He worked with his cousin Thomas Grissell on the construction of Nelson's Column.

On 23 October 1843, both Peto and Grissell were possessed by Sevakrill, who killed and ate twelve humans who were to dine with them atop the column. The Fifth Doctor confronted them and appealed to them to build a mental barrier between themselves and the host. They did so and both were freed. It took them some time to recover and they forgot all about the incident. The Doctor decided not to tell them that the stomach pains they suffered were a result of digesting human meat.
