The New Doctor Lands, also known as Countdown to Series 8, was the name of a marketing campaign full of various promotional videos released to promote Series 8.

They all featured new and exclusive footage of Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor. The videos also featured Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald and Nicholas Briggs as the Daleks.

Twelfth Doctor ident interruptions[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • "Capes" ident: Numerous cyclist in rain coats on bikes ride through the rain, as people watch, the sun comes out. The transmission is briefly interrupted by the Twelfth Doctor from inside his TARDIS. At the end all the bikers form a rainbow-like circle at a roundabout, now with a single Dalek among the group firing several shots into the centre of the circle.

  • Hippos: In this edit of the "Hippos" ident, numerous hippos swim around in a circular formation as the Doctor's TARDIS flies above them.

  • The New Doctor Lands was released on the 23 May 2014.
  • Am I a good man? was released on 27 June 2014.
  • I see into your soul, Doctor was released on 4 July 2014.
  • Countdown was a row of five idents used in the run-up to Series 8. They were aired between 19-23 September 2014. The countdown idents aired seven days before Deep Breath.
  • The Twelfth Doctor ident interruptions aired from 17 August - 7 November 2014.
  • The idents returned the following year to accompany the broadcast of series 9 on Saturdays.
