Maxie Masters speculated that the Shadow People frequently encountered by P.R.O.B.E. in the vicinity of unrelated supernatural phenomena were natives of another dimension, "peeking through" into their universe out of harmless curiosity. However, the P.R.O.B.E. operatives were ultimately unable to verify this or any other hypothesis regarding the Shadow People, who remained a mystery.
